Chinacat, Thanks for the links. It looks like Matsushita may not have decided on an OS yet. Eyeing Europe, Matsushita and NEC ally on 3G phones eet.com "The combination of Symbian OS and ARM processor is popular among cell phone vendors, but the two companies suggested other possibilities. "If we use an operating system that requests a royalty, it will push up the cost," said NEC's Sugiyama. "We are using different operating systems now," said Yasuo Katsura, president of Matsushita Communication. "We are going to find through discussion what is the most suitable [OS] for 3G phones in behalf of users and carriers." Regards JC. PS. I think the remark about royalties is mainly directed at Symbian. As I would imagine the Symbian royalty fee would be much greater than for VxWorks.
