Deficits have always been a problem with conservatives. Can't really blame Reagan for the demospinned "Reagan deficits". The Dem Congress was largely to blame.

You say that deficits have always been a problem for conservatives and then talk about Demospin...were you laughing when you typed that?

The Dem Congress was largely to blame? You need to be reminded that 6 of the 8 years of the Reagan Administration the Republicans controlled the Senate. The White house and the Senate controlling the budget for 6 of the 8 years and you claim is was the fault of the Democrats? Did the Speaker of the House throw Reagan to the ground and force him to sign all those appropriations bills?

You're familiar with the Cato site; they lay the blame of the deficit directly on Reagan. The Cato Institute is hardly liberal.

Trent Lott and Newt did a great job brainwashing with the conservative base.
