To All Concerned:
Some Bad "News"
1. The latest issue of New York Observer, dated July 8-15, published an article titled: Shady Father-Son Ride Go-Go Market to Quick Millions. The article, written by Christopher Byron, discloses, AMONG OTHER THINGS, many information about Howards' past.
G.S.: That Howards have checkered past should be considered as an established fact. If you don't believe the article, look no further than Presstek's 10-Q.
Certainly, you can feel free to say "The past is not relevant."
You can also check out a Bob Woodward article: Howardgate, published on Washington Post, July 14, 1981. For those who attacked Ms. J's journalism so freely: This Bob, whose reputation as a first-rate journalist has stood the test for the last two decades, is absolutely not an easy target.
2. The SEC has increased the staff size on the PRST case from two to seven, which suggests that it is significantly closer to bringing an actionable case up to the Enforcement Office.

3. IBD rates PRST as one of two "biggest losers" of Friday NASDAQ trading.
Quite contrary to favorable description by Neil, the July 8's IBD, after reporting many sell-offs, states: The day's biggest loser was MLX Corp., which cratered 8 1/2 to 4 3/4. The Norcross, GA., venture capital firm is recovering from two years of losses with three straight quarters of earnings. Presstek Inc., the volatile developer of a digital-printing technology, gave up 3 5/8 to 63 3/8.
G.S.: It seems not fair for IBD to add insult to our friend PRST so carelessly, since its loss is no larger than other losers, either in absolute or relative terms. Can't believe IBD has ALSO joined the "conspiracy" of damaging Presstek (We all know this newspaper may be counted as the most "friendly" one)!
Maybe there are some reasons. Not coincidently, as a short, I feel that the performance of PRST last Friday is indicative of something very ominous to the company.
4. The latest Cabot letter reportedly says something to the effect that his readers should space their buying and selling over a couple of days at their discretion rather than on the day of his call.
G.S.: What does it mean?
The latest: Cabot's next hotline update isn't available until Tuesday after the close.
G.S.: Guess what will be coming!
Neil: Thank you for your information about Dick Hoey. I did fail to check his performance. The reason I brought this "news" up is that it IS a bad one (in terms of its effect on PRST).
Just for your information. |
