Hi Bob, I find it interesting that when the press can't really assess the science involved, it turns the issue into a horse race. I'm betting that Collins and Venter are closer to the truth than the various cast of characters who are promoting the notion of a much larger number of genes. There's so much at stake for Haseltine at HGSI or for Novartis to keep the investing public titillated with the "story" of copious new discoveries to made by..... HGSI and Novartis... I'm skeptical of their motivation, as you can tell, though when I've brought this matter up with a couple of researchers, they suggest that reasonable minds can differ on the matter. I'm keeping an open mind. I guess we'll know the answer soon enough. Have a great weekend, Ray :)
