SUN used to have to compete with Alpha, PA-Risc, PowerPC, and Intel. Now they face only PowerPC and X86. All those Alpha and PA-Risc users have a decision to make: should they go with Sparc, PowerPC, or Intel. SUN, IBM, and Intel will all be winners. HP and Compaq will be losers since they are sure to lose some customers in the transition.
