When I consider that 30% of the workforce is paid less than $7 an hour, I wonder how parents are supposed to
inculcate their values in their children when they are working all hours to keep a roof over their heads. Are "family values" compatible with very low wages?


Most minimum wage earners are not the sole source or even the primary source of income in their household. If you jack up the minimum wage then those that are supporting a family will have to pay more without makeing more.

Also some of those that support themselves and/or others on a low wage will simply be priced out of the market, with the jobs going overseas or to more automated processes that use less employees. Its very hard to support a family on $0/hour.
