Tench, it's now entirely a marketing thing. IMO, AMD has the technically superior product.

With respect to execution, they have yet to report a loss in this unprecedented downturn, tho that may change this coming quarter. But who knows, notebooks and MPU may keep them in the black.

No one here is privy to AMD's bin split or research data, so how can anyone begin to intelligently question whether or not their business strategy is optimal or not. One can surmise, tho, that it's bad business to rapidly relegate slower products to the history bin (and blow through your design's headroom) merely to keep up speedwise with an IPC "dud" like the P4.

Bottom line: If the sector turns around (a big if), AMD could very well be a very hot value play...yet again.
