But after being poised with a knockout punch after the end of last year, they really missed the opportunity to nail Intel for good. AMD never had a chance of doing this. Their yields simply wouldn't allow it. What was the highest output Athlon ever achieved in a quarter? 8-9 million? A single Intel fab can crank out over 1.25 million CuMines a week and AMD couldn't do any better than half that. There was no way they were going to deliver a knockout blow with poor yields and 1 Copper fab. EP
