one thing that bothers me about the naysayers of SOI and IBM technology is that the have pioneered some very important techniques that are widely used today. CMP and C4 flip chip. Without CMP litho would not be able to produce that performance they now enjoy. I'm new to semiconductors so please don't attack my short list...I'm sure there are other examples. was AMD first to introduce flip chip (before Intel)....i think so. burn2learn
