I am not sure it is the key to continued viability. These threads could continue to be viable as a sort of WWF (NOT world wild fund but Wrestling) of "discussion". In other words this could be the sort of place where everyone stakes out an act and sticks with it, with no communication. That would be viable, it just wouldn't be what I think you are looking for. I think civility is the key to making this place what you would like it to be.
