Let's see the poll results.

1. D votes a lot. Esp. on q3.

2. H I J K weren't sure about it being a gorilla game by q1 but
changed their minds by q3

3. even within q3, H J K can be ambivalent.

It is an interesting poll. Perhaps you need to rearrange
some of your questions, or make give each question a smaller
scope and we might end up with more interesting results.

Some other, semi-related observations on BEA space.

BEA app server. We tried it and found it to be too powerful.
Since we didn't care so much about so many of the features, we
simply said screw it. (maybe we need to revisit this after the
iPlanet layoffs.)

Furthermore, BEA operates in a world that is dominated by
standards. Here parts can be interchangeable, and freewares
of all kinds abound. So, BEA must of necessity make large
corporate deals to flourish. That's going to be increasingly
hard. If Red Hat can thrive (I am not referring to the stock
price) then so can FSF.

Part of the power of BEA comes from super-support for J2EE, something
meant to wrap up legacy apps (aka MVS apps.) IBM now has its own line
of products to support them. And it's busy making partnerships,
doling out free AIX boxes and so on. It may claim to know a thing
or two more about MVS.
