Frank, thanks for the link to that great interview with Ravi Batra. Batra's explanations filled in some blank spots for me with respect to the role of the Nikkei collapse in buoying the US into the 90's, and how the imbalance between supply and demand created the debt and stock market bubble... amazingly simple and logical.

I increasingly have the feeling that we at Strictly: Drilling II are among the relatively few who have an advance copy of the outline of the economic script for the next few years and that we are just waiting to hear the actual dialogue and find out the specific timing of events. As I was watching Fox News' 2 hours of weekend stock market programs this morning, I realized that part of my interest was to see how much pessimism it was acceptable to express on national TV this week. There is a gradual but perceptible change towards acceptance of the coming reality, but denial still clearly predominates... not a surprise.
