Yup. I'm not an absolutist vegetarian. I am a vegetarian because I CAN be, not because I have to. I would never criticize someone else who makes a different decision because this kind of thing is so personal. I don't force it on my children and if I was in a world where I had no choice but to eat meat, I would. I think there is a moral hierarchy present: the most evolved thing to do is to eat as low on the food chain as it possible to do.

It is more efficient and I like efficiency. I don't like eating things that "think". This metric is highly subjective and while vegetative material can be argued to communicate, e.g., the telegraph vine of the tropics, the highly organized, interactive and reactive responses of animals puts me off eating them.

You should feel good about your choice. It is the rational thing to do for a compassionate person.
