Actually, that was tongue-in-cheek. Many Europeans would regard union with the US as going to bed with the devil. And I'm not eager to bring in a couple hundred million socialist votes.

Alternately, I could be satisfied with Canada.
Much better, I think. We'd have to keep them as a territory for a while, though, while we cleansed them of their socialist tendencies. Should be faster and easier with them though.
