BP May Reduce Maintenance at Ind. Refinery

NEW YORK, Aug 24 (Reuters) -

BP Plc. said Friday it is exploring ways to reduce maintenance on its 410,000 barrel per day (bpd) Whiting, Indiana, refinery this fall in order to help ease the U.S. Midwest fuel supply tightness following Citgo's Lemont, Illinois, plant outage.

The company added, however, that regulatory requirements make it necessary to do at least some maintenance work at the refinery this autumn.....

Explosion rips through Canadian gas storage plant
TORONTO, Aug 26 (Reuters)
- An explosion at a natural gas storage facility sent fireballs into the sky over a small town in western Canada on Sunday, but no one was injured, emergency officials said.

The explosion at a BP Canada Energy pipeline processing plant in Fort Saskatchewan, , Alberta, started when gas from a malfunctioning wellhead ignited, an emergency services spokesman said. BP Canada Energy is a subsidiary of British oil giant BP Plc.

Well....that should make the Monday Operations Management meeting pretty interesting. Say, maybe that leaking wellhead would account for all that missing gas last week.

If the two seem unrelated, believe me they won't be by the end of the day, not within BP.
