Most DV editors let you precompose a complex section like that, then drop it into the main comp (leaving the precomp editable). I haven't seen Premiere in a few years to remember how *it* handles that, but check your manual and other guides for "precompose", "compify", and "nested comps".

Or, do a complete render of that bit, then drop it in as footage. This is less convenient from a further editing perspective, but frees up system resources and simplifies working with the overall project -- fewer layers and effects to keep track of.
