Have you considered the possibility of the 1.5GHz delay as being related to bin splits? If AMD were able to turn out 15% of their processors at 1.5GHz, that may not be enough for the size of launch that they are looking for, and would only end up lowering the prices of the rest of their product line. But, it would be enough for every distributor and their mother to have a few samples lying around so that you could see reports that make it look like a launch is inevitable. AMD may be waiting for bin splits to reach the 20-25% level before they launch, but for whatever reason, delaying the launch further only gives Intel the advantage.
