Sounds like the GOP is the Peoples Party........Republican Party on the Offensive with African-Americans
Republican Party Threatens To Attack The Credibility of African-American Leaders
Washington, DC -- Florida Republican Party Chair Al Cárdenas unveiled his strategy for the African-American voter in the June 25th issue of the Weekly Standard by describing his plans to write off the African-American voter but also attack the credibility of African-American leaders. "We need to call into question the African-American leaders and what they're saying," said Cárdenas, with a strategy "to call into question the credibility" of African-American leadership. Cárdenas also sits on the Republican National Committee's "New Voices, New Faces" minority outreach committee.

"These comments by a leader of the Republican Party are appalling and outrageous, and they disturbingly endorse an overtly discriminatory strategy of attacking African-American leaders," said DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe. "These statements are another notch in the belt of a party determined to permanently diminish the voice of the African-American voters."

This disturbing trend of alienation of the African-American community by the Republican Party continues in the wake of the Civil Rights Commission's report on the 2000 election. The report concluded that there were instances of voter disenfranchisement throughout the 2000 election cycle. The report's conclusions prompted vehement denials by members of the Republican Party that any deliberate attempt was made to undermine African-American voters.

"The Republican Party preaches minority inclusion while it plans to practice an assault on the credibility of African-American leaders," said DNC Vice Chair for Voter Registration and Participation Lottie Shackelford. "This hypocrisy is a grave insult to the great sacrifices that the African-American community has made to advance and defend our country's democracy."
