Hi Dan,
Just a little anticipatory rambling.

It's pretty well known that Sclumberger has announced it intention to sell off it's semi equipment operations.

Cohu has since purchased AS from Sclumberger.

The real crown Jewel however is the ATE division. This division has over the years built the testers for all of Intel microprocessors. This is a great customer and requires the leading edge technology(like how to handle heat during the test).

This would not be a cheap purchase and the future technology would keep yo in the hunt for at least a year or two.

I'm thinking A is one of the few companies that could manage the technology (add it to current testors on their product lines)AND have the money to do the Acquisition.

The other player out there is Amat - also rumorred to be looking at entering the back end of chip making.

Let's face it prices aren't lofty out there. A value purchase just before a cycle turn could do very nicely for growing the top line out into 02.

Just a thought .

Bob
