Dave - RE: "The bad news is this is now their ONLY AMD based computer."

This should slowly happen in retail desktops also. When the Q4 refresh comes out AMD will likely have just a token desktop Athlon PC available from Compaq and HP, everything else should be P4 in mid-high. In the low-end Duron is practically non-existant and will remain that way, especially when it burns 50W. Which do you think OEMs would prefer, a 50W Duron or 30W Celeron? Low-end computers come with simple power supplies and Duron burns energy like a high-end processor. So much for lower power with the new core... Its amazing how much of a flop Duron has been (outside the enthusiast area), especially considering how much success AMD had with the K6-2.

Emachines may pick something up, but if they do you KNOW they only did because they got a nice cheap deal. I saw an elderly couple walking out of Best Buy today with an EMachines PC. I wonder if they realize they won't get free support after something like 90 days, after which it may give them problems...
