The old Finnish man told me this last July.
I was on holidays in Finland. The old fellow who host us -and told that above - apologise for not being from a generation who spoke English but his son in law -of mine say he would translate.

My friend didn't know what is Elmatador explaining the technical, economical, military and religious reasons why the Portuguese were the first to go around Africa, (at two in the morning fuelled by Napoleon Cognac.)

When I asked about him he told he was dirty poor and became rich (well no one becomes rich in Finland, rich is like having a big boat, nice cottage and a Mercedes-Benz in his garage.) He told me about his business and the tricks.

Then he told us the above opening sentence of this posting. I keep remembering because even though I don't understand zilch of Finnish (not to mention the effect of the cognac) the way he said was almost like he wanted to be dirty poor again just to have the pleasure to fight his way up. and he was laughing!

Today when I read here the Finance Collapse I am thinking somewhere in the world there are real die harders, tough and smart son of a bitches that will live through any kind of collapse to tell how the last collapse was all about and how tough it was to came out alive.

and they will even talk about as if they wanted it to happen just to have a go at it again...
