good morning, E- I'm so glad to see you here.

The story works on several levels, doesn't it? I loved it.
We've come a long way, baby. Hard to imagine this group letting a man talk to them like that-
Then he took me in his arms and called a blessed little goose
WHAT did you call me, jerk?

But before we go into all that, I HAVE to write about a documentary I saw last night that affected me deeply. Small Wonders is the story of Roberta Guaspari and her violin program in the NYC school system. (You are probably familiar with it since you live up there) Watching her throughout this show -- her energy, creativity, discipline, conviction-- was inspirational. (I wept through a lot of it) She was so alive, so IN every moment, and what she did mattered so much.

The contrast between our sad heroine who had everything creative or productive removed from her life, and Guaspari, who exudes energy and emotional health and whose lifework is so meaningful, was stunning.
