Elmer, please do more careful research in the future....

The aforementioned Coppermine used the following settings:
* Operating System: Windows NT 4.0(SVP 5.0)
* Compiler: Intel C/C++ Compiler 4.5 for Windows NT 4.0

The Xeon used the following settings:
* Operating System: Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
* Compiler: Intel C/C++ Compiler 5.0 Build 001004 for Windows NT
* Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 (for libraries)
* MicroQuill SmartHeap Library 5.0

As you can see, there are often multiple variables to take into account. It is *possible* that a P3XP could outperform a Coppermine by 40% in a benchmark like this using similar compilers, but in this case it is fairly likely that the more advanced compilers are having a positive effect.

Granted, I (like you) am confused by Dan3's rather odd claim. But you snapped back with faulty evidence.

Also, please read Ali's comment regarding pipeline length and process technology. It was ... annoying to see you lightly implying that AMD's process technology was inferior to Intel's process technology based solely on the fact that AMD's shallower pipe microarchitecture operates at a lower frequency than Intel's deeper pipe microarchitecture. Ali's comment was perhaps a bit blunt, but it hits square at home. It is bad to ignore critical variables in your equations. If I is low but V is unknown, you cannot conclude that P is low!
