I would guess from your post that you have recently bought a house.

It's hard to be objective about investment decisions. I am conscious of the fact that my perceptions are colored by my own point of view that housing prices are peaking - after all, I recently downsized as a result of this perception. If prices keep climbing, I will be wrong, and it's hard to be wrong.

Unfortunately, however, your statement >>a house that appreciates by 27% annually would triple in value in < 5 years<< has a strong "Amazon to 600" flavor to it.
