It's all about power.

People who have power will often abuse it. The more power they have, the more potential for abuse. It was not good when men had too much power over women. I do not think it is necessarily good for parents to have too much power over their children. Abuse of power, when it occurs, can be dreadful- especially since those who abuse it, most frequently abuse it in the guise of righteousness.
