Europe's damaged telecoms sector is starting to recover but only piecemeal. Richard Evans takes a look at which type of companies look set for success sooner rather than later and those expected to take far longer.

"And contrary to perceived wisdom, consumer focused communications companies will probably recover more quickly than ones dedicated to the business market. That's because few European and US consumers feel like they are in a recession, while many of the companies that they work for complain that they are." And while the economic slowdown in Europe continues, the latest signs from across the Atlantic indicate that, for telecoms at least, the worst really may be over for the US economy.
