That's where next generation components come in. Increase bandwidth through the same pipes. Historically, the magic financial formula has always been four times the network capacity for 2.5 times the cost of the existing network. If it fits the formula; Bingo, upgrade. The cost of building new networks is far cheaper than a few years ago. Tier-1 players that let bandwidth prices rise in the face of growing demand, would be begging for increased competition from more efficient players...not a good idea, IMO. They will scale the networks.
