Jim, I'm 100% sure the marketing folks have been wanting to do this for years now. The decision NOT to advertise comes from people above Marketing Directors. Jerry The Dictator.

An effective campaign from scratch will be 1) difficult since it will look like they're squirming - and 2) more expensive to create any kind reach and frequency. But it is their only chance.

<edit> and remember - to this point, their creative has been awful.
