Raymond, you may find this thread of interest, its central theme is the current protectionist threat against our lumber - Subject 51596
The example to which you are replying can hardly be used as evidence of subsidy, if the logs are being bought out of province for processing and reshipment ...... you'll have a real hard time finding any evidence of the subsidies this timber baron group claims, they do a strong propaganda campaign with lots of apple and orange comparisons and twisted 'statistics', and clearly they have had some influence over the bushistani 'commerce' department, but you get to the core of it, you'll find it's just gangster bullying, like so much else in politics
John - timber is a fine business, and it pays off in more than just money, it's a great life ... a game for the patient of course ... but it will teach you patience, if you're ready .... there's a magasine i used to subscribe to, called 'American Forester', organisation that puts it out has a quality philosophy imho ... it is sad it makes me that quite likely some of their members have swallowed the timber baron BS and support the attack against my province |
