Chas,

I realize that the net amount has to be reckoned with income taxes being deducted, but the new cast I heard did not take that into consideration.

It seems that many of the lottery winners are those that do not have any experience in handling money, and such a large sum seems to be more than can be spent, in their eyes. I am too cheap to waste money, regardless of how much I may have, or may get in the future, and I am not counting on any lottery money either.

Taking the payments makes a lot of sense depending on the winner's age. At 66 years old, there is no way I could live long enough to receive all the payments, and have no intention of letting kinsmen I never knew about dip into the pot. Of course, I would make arrangements for my loved ones, but no one else.

I have seen those adds offering to pay a lump sum for your payments, and some even will try to do the same thing on expected trust payments. Anyone that cannot see that snake in the grass, better keep his day job.
