Products that I sat in on presentations for were Visual Speedware and Esperant (aquired from Software AG). Visual Speedware take the traditional Speedware app development engine and wraps it in a very nice VB-like front end - replacing the functional (but considered antique...) character based front end of Designer. This will allow developers to build fully graphical applications, something their customers have been asking for for a long time. Esperant should be a very good product for Speedware, they have done a nice job integrating it with their Media product, and you can easily move data between them. My personal opinion is that Esperant/Media combination stacks up very will in terms of feature/functionality to any other product in the EIS/OLAP marketplace - especially against Impromptu/PowerPlay from Cognos. The question still remains - will anyone find out? I'm curious about your comments on "the Softquad effect" - and yes they have taken a beating lately - is that what you are referring to?
