Rats, Maurice! If your rant did not involve the impossible task of educating a metaphysically certain lawyer, it would be a Cool Post. I'm a lawyer, too, and frequently deal with Those Who Are Often Wrong But Never In Doubt ("TWAOWBNID"), i.e., lawyers who ignore the fact that our profession requires us to make poor arguments on occasion. The TWAOBNID fails to make the distinction between his or her professional duty and the weakness of the argument. The TWAOWBNID is convinced that his mere articulation of an argument validates it. Juries and appellate courts correct TWAOWBNIDs all the time, a gruesomely painful experience to witness. Great post, Mq. I was pleased to note that you avoided pejorative terms such as liar, moron, and pathetic loser. Have you considered publishing a collection of your rants? There is a certain Mark Twainish ring to them that the public might enjoy.
