Mary, RE: You have to assume that he must know something . Indeed he does. He knows how to deceive the people that he theoretically works for, the owners of the company, and he knows how to survive. Beyond that, he doesn't necessarily need any extensive skills. There are a lot of Chairman/CEOs in his league, people who for one reason or another had been able to remain at the top in spite of their company's underperformance. Granted, not too many have been at it for 30 years, but there are plenty that have hung around for a decade or two.
