There may be some weakness developing on the wireless handset side. A big proportion of the flash has been going into handsets and PDA's.

13:16 ET Advanced Micro (AMD) 14.04 -0.82 (-5.5%): -- Update -- Have seen semiconductor equipment makers such as Applied Materials (AMAT -3.1%), Novellus (NVLS -4.1%) and competitor Intel (INTC -2.2%) edge to lows of the day in reaction to AMD revenue guidance. Depending on how investors interpret AMD's comments on flash memory, flash vendors such as ATML, SNDK, SSTI could be impacted.


13:08 ET Advanced Micro (AMD) 14.30 -0.56 (-3.8%): -- Update -- Speaking at Wit Soundview Semiconductor Conference, Sales & Marketing officer Rob Herb maintains that Q3 sales of flash memory products will decline by approx. 30% from Q2; sees total rev. declining in the 15% range vs the minus 10%-15% range previously projected; sees loss for the qtr (est. already -$0.08).
