Of course....and from the beginning, I have emphasized the difference between long-term and short-term ownership. If long-term, the wrinkles will iron out one way or another and the risk of ownership either declines or disappears over time.

If short-term, don't buy--real estate is NOT a good short-term investment and carries risk in that case. If renting is the more practical thing to do, rent.

Being afraid to "take the plunge" and buy some real estate, however, is not going to be productive for some people. I hate to see so many people being negative on it or waiting for an economic miracle to occur that will render their dream home cheap--might not happen.
