Advanced Micro Devices Inc. updated its guidance for the third quarter, saying that revenues are expected to decline 15% sequentially.

In the company's second-quarter release, AMD had predicted a revenue decline of 10 to 15% for the third quarter.

In remarks to a financial conference, Rob Herb, executive vice president and chief sales and marketing officer of AMD, also said today that AMD continues to expect that sales of flash memory products will decline by approximately $100 million - or 30% - from second-quarter levels.

As previously stated, a revenue decline of up to 15% would result in an operating loss for the third quarter.

Herb said the company continues to believe that PC processor unit sales in the current quarter will remain at or near the record level of the second quarter, when AMD sold 7.8 million units.
