re: I kinda like using a more instruction-oriented objective number (like, for example, peak MIPS), and I liked most of all the idea of having a high core clock but just dividing everything.

Now explain that to a guy who is watching TV, eating a pizza, drinking a beer, thinking he has to go to the bathroom, worry that the Vikings will beat the Giants, while his wife complains that he never takes her out, and by the way there is a 30 second ad on TV for a product that he might or might not buy in the next six months.
