JC re: before they went out again and finally succeeded. there is a difference between marketing and science and that is one of them. It is similar to the fact that when the stock market crashes you need at least one generation before next boom. :-)) (people need to forget) re: mips that would not work either. I suggested mips because it is a better measure than ipc. Good example would be a 100-processor system. plenty of mips but the real performance is limited by the ability of the application to take advantage of those mips. The new standards needs to be established for measuring actual performance Regards -Albert
