I won't argue that megahertz by itself is a deceptive number. Consumers buy into it easily, and one can say that Intel knew what they were doing when they designed the Netburst micro-architecture to reach much higher clock speeds. But I think it's going a little far to associate this with deception. Maybe a campaign for truer performance numbers would benefit the industry, and eliminate some of the misconceptions that people have about megahertz and performance.
