To make room on their roster, the Giants released placekicker Jaret Holmes. Andersen converted 441 of 562 field goal attempts for the New Orleans Saints (1982-94) and Atlanta Falcons (1995-2000). His 1,938 points rank him behind only Gary Anderson (2,059) and George Blanda (2,002) in the history of the NFL. Andersen holds the NFL record with 37 field goals of 50 yards or more. His 28 game-deciding kicks also is a league record.
