"Are you invested NVDA? You seem fairly positive on the companies products."

As I've mentioned here before, I bought quite a bit of 3dfx stock (TDFX.OB) with an average cost per share around $0.30, as it is in process of winding down to liquidation. The shareholders of 3dfx should receive some part of 1 million shares of NVDA (2 million shares after split on 9/11/01) in addition to the $70 million in cash the company used to pay down on debt. Based on the outstanding shares of 3dfx (around 39 million shares) and NVDA's performance this year, I'm "hoping" for anywhere from a $0.50 to $1.50 per share payoff in the next few months. It all depends on if remaining liabilities are much more than the $15MM from 4/01 quarterly report. Many feel that NVDA is currently overbought, but NVDA's involvement in XBox and nForce chipsets should continue their earnings growth.

Fortunately, I moved some AMD money in the $28 to $31 range to TDFX a few months ago. I would like this deal to pay off, then reaquire more shares of AMD while it is down, or to diversify some more (probably a better idea).

For a "little league" investor like me, this play helps salve the grumpiness from AMD's current funk.

I've been thinking of hedging my bets by purchasing ATI Technology's stock (ATYT) as they are No. 2 in graphics chip business, and aligning themselves with Intel and are providing the graphics chip for Nintendo's new Game Cube.
