DCH Receives Order for Additional Sensors for Semiconductor Applications
VALENCIA, Calif., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- DCH Technology, Inc. (Amex: DCH), a manufacturer of hydrogen-specific sensors and hydrogen fuel cells and provider of hydrogen safety services, announced the latest order for their Robust Hydrogen Sensor(TM) (RHS) for applications in the semiconductor industry. Cascade Controls Northwest -- a highly respected industry supplier of sensors and controls -- ordered an additional six RHS sensor systems, bringing the total number of systems ordered since January of this year to 67 systems. Cascade uses the RHS system for quantitative in-line measuring of hydrogen used in the semiconductor manufacturing process.
"The semiconductor industry is a near-term growth market for us in that our hydrogen-specific sensing technology provides advantages to both in-place and new semiconductor processing systems," said DCH President and CEO John Donohue. "DCH is the exclusive provider of hydrogen-specific sensors to Cascade, and they are opening important doors for us."
The Robust Hydrogen Sensor(TM) consists of a thin-film sensing system embedded in an integrated circuit. Together the sensor and circuit are able to uniquely detect, gather, and process data and communicate that data to a master control system. The RHS was developed at the U.S. Department of Energy's Sandia National Laboratory, who selected DCH to commercialize the technology.
Until this latest order, Cascade had asked DCH to keep their relationship confidential. "They wanted to thoroughly validate the technology in real conditions with real customers before putting their name on the line with ours," said Donohue. "As we fully expected, the Robust Hydrogen Sensor(TM) has proven itself as a world-class solution. We are very pleased to be able to finally tell our investors about this exciting channel to market."
The RHS has been ordered as a safety sensing system for hybrid passenger car and bus designs by several vehicle OEMs in Europe, Asia, and the United States; by several leading laboratories involved with next-generation hydrogen power technology; and by fuel cell and reformer manufacturers as a hydrogen gas monitoring system.
Founded in 1987, Cascade Controls NW ( www.cascade-nw.com ) is a privately owned corporation headquartered in Portland, Oregon. In addition to the semiconductor industry, the company also serves leading manufacturers in the automotive, data communications, food processing, pulp and paper, power, and transportation industries.
