ICO Selects Tekelec's Sentinel for Monitoring Satellite-enabled Services

MORRISVILLE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 30, 2001-- Tekelec (Nasdaq: TKLC) announced today that London-based ICO Global Communications has selected the Tekelec Sentinel monitoring and business intelligence platform to provide surveillance of its signaling network. Sentinel will monitor satellite-enabled personal mobile global communications services.
``We are initially rolling out Sentinel to monitor signaling services at our satellite access node sites, including those in Australia, Brazil, Chile, Germany, India, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, and United States,'' says Alex Sinclair, director of Network Engineering, ICO. ``We will be expanding the SS7 (signaling system 7) monitoring by adding equipment at the network management center sites at Uxbridge and Slough, near London.
