wow, Larry, that's a big accusation, but I'm glad you said it. I thought the same darn thing. When I saw that 0.2% number, my first thought was that they had massaged the number to make it slightly positive, when it really should have been negative. I bet the powers that be didn't want to see what would happen to market sentiment if a negative number materialized. If you and I are right, then now they are involved in a modified kiting scheme. In other words, if the weakness persists, eventually it will come to the fore, but if they get lucky and the economy rebounds in the short term, then maybe they will have successfully dodged a bullet. My hunch though is that they have just delayed the inevitable. We are in a recession right now and no amount of obfuscation can hide that fact.
