but why couldn't he keep the state gov't out of the power business, and particularly the power-retailing business? Just let the full cost flow on the consumer? I think the funniest thing is that CPUC would not allow Edison/PG&E/SDGE to enter into long term contracts prior to this coming to a head. Their rationale was that the public would get shafted by paying higher prices. Finally, once wholesale prices spike, Davis, in a panic, hires ex-WalMart employees to go out and lock the state in (Long Term)at the top of the market! Now, they won't let the consumers they say they are protecting, contract for lower pricing! This is rich.
