Bing's one major goal is to produce high density flash based on its proprietary processes. This patent will protect its ability to make such high density units. These NOR flash will have faster read and write speeds than the conventional flash such as products from Sandisk. Digital cameras for example can put them to very good use, as one major problem now is the slow write speed.

My understanding based on the recent CCs is SST will produce the higher density flash starting next year, maybe early in the year, although I am not sure when.
