bill c., But just because they deploy CAP does not mean they won't also deploy DMT. Today we have a variety of bandwidth options. 28.8/56k modems and ISDN for homes and frame relay, T1 and T3 for businesses. Each one a little faster and a little more expensive. The same will hold true with the new technologies that are emerging. RBOCS and ISP's will offer ISDN/HDSL/CAP-ADSL/DMT-ADSL. Cable companies will have their alphabet soup offering and I just read an article in web week about utilities laying telecom cables in their infrastructure and are now offering internet services.

The reason I am going on about this is I see people trying pick winners and losers. From a technology stand point I think all of the above mentioned will be present. Now whether some company fumbles and loses the edge in a particular segment, ie WSTL and AMTX with DMT, I shrug because I don't know. But you can't write anybody off at this point. AMTX doesn't have the same kind of deployment contracts that the other ADSL players have, but there tech is the next one in line.
