Dear Kash:

I think Tom's rumor is wrong! How could 1.2 GHz be working ok in Tyan Tiger's and Thunder's 762s? Oh! It's a VIA problem! That should be a VIA fix not, AMD! The 760, 762, Sis 735, KT133A and Ali MajiK all work with Palominos at 1 and 1.2G. What is 1.4 and 1.53 use as a FSB? Yes, the very same 133DDR as the 1.0 and 1.2 Palominos currently out there. No, the respin for 133 DDR Palominos is not true. For 166DDR or even 200DDR, maybe but, not 133DDR.

Yet, there are many other sites still reporting that the release of desktop Palomino will happen in Q3. There is also the nasty possibility that many of these rumors are just trial balloons to test public reactions. Well, you are reacting, so they must work to help decide on a direction.

Given Nvidea's 6 months release cycles. a September release of Nforce would move into production Q4-01. 6 months later, a HT link version for Hammer probably would release, if Hammer is ready, March-02 and in production Q2-02, 6 to 8 months ahead of current Hammer schedule. No additional chip set changes are required as the CPUs link to each other for Dual Claws and Dual and up Sledges. Given samples in Q4-01, MBs would be tested and ready for Q2-02 production.

Granted that is an early case but, quite possible according to positive rumors that offset the negative ones.

Pete
