How much faster does a 1 ghz P3 do benchmarks on average than a 500 mhz P3. Twice as fast. Not on your life. In most cases, from what I have seen, performance is only 70% faster even using identical processors except for mhz. Letting the customer believe the 1 ghz performs twice as fast as a 500 mhz is also a lie of major proportions. Mhz by itself should only be one definition of a compters power, just as cubic inches isn't necessarily a good definition of an engines power. Turbo charging and high compression can easily double the power. .
