In this downward mania we've been experiencing it might seem odd to think about buying something...can't find many suggesting such a thing these days...but...

If anyone is in the mood, ULCM is a company you might want to look into. They are a software company that makes the signaling stuff for the infrastructure EOM's sell to telecom service providers. They have have met expectations every quarter and this week reaffirmed expectations. Their profits come as wireless and fixed line customers use more of the teleco services...call waiting, forwarding, 911, data, etc. Anyway because of this they are somewhat insulated from the downturn because telecos are increasing these add on services in order to make more money.

The sweet part is that they are selling for a little more than TWICE their cash level.

Market Cap: $490 million
Cash: $215 million

This is a company that is increasing its margins and maintaining guidance during the past year of hell. Earnings increased 165% this past quarter. All the analysts congratulated the CEO on the conference call on Monday.

FWIW the contacts I have made are confident not only will this company survive but is incredibly cheap right now.
